Western Europe Gas Supply: Major Pipelines
TAP & TANAP
Our next guests in the series of pipelines supplying Western Europe are part of the Southern Gas Corridor. In terms of pipeline age, these two are brand-new and transport gas from gas field Shah Deniz in the Caspian Sea to Italy crossing Turkey, Greece, and the Adriatic Sea. According to current supply contracts, 6 bcm exit TANAP in Turkey and 2 bcm exit TAP in Greece. Volumes exiting in Greece are dedicated to Greece (1 bcm) and Bulgaria (1 bcm). As a rule of thumb, 1 bcm natural gas is equivalent to approximately 10 LNG carriers at a capacity of 165,000 cubic meters.
Please welcome the most recently completed pipelines in this series: TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) and TANAP (Trans Anatolian Pipeline)
